tim0625
Boards look great, Kev. Do you go straight from the bandsaw to glue-up or do you clean the curves somehow? Or do you use a template and a router? I saw that article in FWW or PWW, whichever it was, but I never ended up reading it. Here's one for you, bush...I'm close. WA....WOW....UH....What did you say Kev? Yeah, yeah....nice boards..... It's like when the guy on the beach is reeling in something big and you're waiting to see it and someone walks by and you're really distracted for a second or three ......your thread was almost highjacked with a picture. ..Kev
Sorry for being slow on the update.. Snapped a ban saw blade today and Grizzly isn't open until Monday.. Should have an end grain board to show early next week..

..Kev
Pretty much just stays in the saw but, obviously doesn't cut any more..
rodger.
Wow - beautiful cutting boards. When done the "x" table, i may give these a try. Would it be a nightmare build without a band saw?

Would it be a nightmare build without a band saw? You could do it with a jig saw and then flush trip with the router.. Should work just fine. WillieIV
How many TPI is the blade you are using in the bandsaw?
..Kev
How many TPI is the blade you are using in the bandsaw? That's a 10tpi Timberwolfe blade on a Grizzly G0555 14" band saw.
wouldwurker
You could do it with a jig saw and then flush trip with the router.. Should work just fine. Do you mean make the cut, and than flip the 'mirror image' to the top/bottom and flush with a flush trim/pattern bit?
..Kev
Do you mean make the cut, and than flip the 'mirror image' to the top/bottom and flush with a flush trim/pattern bit? The pattern is 1/4" hardboard so, if I were going to flush trim, I would use that.
bushwacked
That's a 10tpi Timberwolfe blade on a Grizzly G0555 14" band saw. How do you like that bandsaw? Is that the stock blade? If not, is the stock blade crap and need replacing?
..Kev
How do you like that bandsaw? Is that the stock blade? If not, is the stock blade crap and need replacing? To me, that band saw is one of the jewels in their line up. It's been a wonderful saw that's easy to set up and has never let me down. With that said, it is a 14" saw and I don't ask it to do more than it was intended to do. It's not the stock blade and I really don't recall what came on it.

I'm selling a few of my knives to help purchase a new bandsaw in the next month or 2.

..Kev
You asked for an end grain version, here it is.. Thanks for the push Steve! First glue up.. Second glue up.. Getting it flat and laying out the waves Adding some flare And, a little more flare Walnut edges Sand flat and trim At the suggestion of a good friend, another bit of flare was added. Paduk Round corners, sand, and add salad bowl finish - 3 coats
bushwacked
Daaaaaang!!! Now that is a beauty! As always that is some impressive work there. I think your friend was on to something with that paduk addition. It gives it a little extra pop. Are you rounding the edges with a router or hand sand?
..Kev
Bulk of the work at the router table and then finished up by hand.
