davewyo
Duck: I really admire your inlays. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your offer. You'll be hearing from me after I do my homework. Then I can ask sensible questions. If I have any non-sensible questions I'll just ask them here. Dave dave just send me a pm when you want to start I can walk you through step by step in fact ill be posting a possible inlay list of materials sometime as part of my 2015 goals of doing 5 tutorials on my web site. but if you get a project done that you want to do an inlay ill help you get it done without doing tons of homework. I can save you tons of trial and error and reading dead end web sites. https://featheredwoodworking.wordpress.com/2014/07/01/352/ here is a tutorial I wrote last year about doing stone inlay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qPWU-96mY4 this is a good video on doing inlay http://stephenhatcher.com/ as far as I can tell this guy is the leading inlay turner that I know of plus he is a great guy he sent me some stone and some wood when I first started. Got your PM and replied. I will be thoroughly checking those websites. Everyone can see...you are too generous! I'm looking forward to following your guidance. duckkisser
Duck, neat tutorial. Thanks for sharing thanks I think I need to update it with some helpful tips like paint the inlayed depression before you add the stones then you will make the image stand out better and there wont be any clear areas showing the wood under your stone. RichardA
Project wise: Humidor, Nightstands, Chest of Drawers, and Platform Bed. (If you can't tell, the wife wants a bedroom set to match the headboard I made her!) Humidor? Splain that one!
Jfitz
My 2015 primary goal is time - more time in the shop and better time management for what I do get. Between work and kids' stuff (homework, Scouting, etc) I get few opportunities for good extended shop time but I'm looking to change that. Once I nail down more time, I have other items on my list. For projects: to complete a desk project Make a quilt rack for my wife. Somewhere in there I want to get in some shop projects: upgrade my dust collection with a Wynn filter and a pre-separator. Better storage Better lighting
HunterL
John, good call on the Wynn filter and separator. I've got my HF 2hp collector with a super dust deputy on a steel can and a Wynn filter, it is the WAY TO GO!
