Woodenskye
Vin Project is looking great. After watching the video Pug linked, that is way to much work for a cup of coffee. Then again this is coming from a guy that drinks a cup every 3 months.

Coop
Vinn, from looking at all the blood, just wondered who you got to cut the boards for ya? Just shi**in ya. That thing looks darn nice. Now I'll go back and watch the instructional video and see what I'm missing Ok, I watched the video. You'd play hell frying eggs and bacon while making coffee. I'll stick with my Folgers and Community coffee. Still a neat project though!

Coop
Those adjustable hole saws scare the heck out of me. Bought mine at HF, so may explain that! Neat looking drill press table!
wouldwurker
Nah. Adjusted the rpm to 450 per the directions. Barely even spins
wtnhighlander
Looks like it cut pretty clean. Found one in my late FIL's kit, haven't tried it out yet.
wdwerker
Then one of those adjustable hole saws catches the shaft on the drill press bends ! Guess how I found that out ?

wtnhighlander
Vinny, is that recess meant for a carafe of hot water or coffee? If so, are you planning any extra steps to protect the final finish from the moisture & heat?
wouldwurker
It's neither...hard to explain. Here's a pic of it. The recess is for the base, and really just decorative. There will be another 2.5" through-hole in the middle for a 'male' end that will extend past the base bottom. I don't think the base gets all that hot, and there will be air between the male spout and the walls of the hole. What would be perfect is some sort of protective tubing of sorts that I could epoxy in the inside of the hole. I might actually just apply some epoxy to the walls inside the hole. wouldwurker
Went a bit deeper with the recess. Was worried that after sanding the top it would be gone. Went to 1/4" deep. Much better
wouldwurker
They wouldn't be Greene and Greene finger joints if they weren't cartoonishly rounded over.

PlaneAndDestroy
Looking very nice Vinny, although the function is still totally foreign to me. (not a coffee drinker) Pourover coffee is basically the same as drip, except you have a kettle of boiling watter you pour into a vessel, cone, or other doohicky that has the grounds, a filter, and a hole for the water to go through. He's building a stand for the doohicky, that a cup/pot will sit underneath while the water takes its time to move down into the cup from the doohicky. This picture might help. shaneymack
Hey vinny, after the hard work on this awesome pourover station what kind of beans are you going to use? This beautiful piece merits some kopi luwak, ethiopian yirgacheffe or some blue mountain! Dont taint it with foldgers!!
Tom Cancelleri
Fly cutters on a drill press.... No thanks, had one that got loose even thought the screws were tight, cutter moved during cutting and messed up my work piece.
