Randy Thurman-Keup
I was watching an old online episode of DIY networks Renovation Realities tonight. The home owner was trying to cut out a stump of sorts next to a chain link fence when the saw kicked back and, well... you can imagine. It made me jump a bit when it happened. Fortunately the guy only got a small gouge on the top of his shoulder, but it could have been much worse.
Jim DaddyO
Wow....did this guy have any instruction at all? That came close to killing him. High powered tools are not toys for the casual user.

Tom Cancelleri
Never ever ever use a chainsaw at head height, and never cut never something that a chainsaw won't cut. The proper tool here would've been a sawzall with 10" limb blade.

Tom King
If you really want one to kick back, it's easy to do. Good thing it was a toy saw. If he had done that with one of my chains, he'd have more serious injuries, and not from the saw.
Trip
Was taught (by my father) never above your chest. The entire neck thing aside, it's highest point to keep your upper arm/body in the game. Once you get to shoulder height, your leverage drops dramatically... ==>my chainsyellow or red? We don't use no stinking green chains...
Cliff
Ugh. There is a reason I'm taking stumps out by hand in the front yard the last two days. Just big bushes, but still.
