  1. Trying to imagine life at 39 years. That’s a feat. Congrats!!
  2. Celebrated 22 years with my wife yesterday. Did some shopping and ate some Jamaican inspired. Spent the afternoon on Lake Michigan. She sat on the beach while I hiked seven miles of back country and dunes. Both in our happy place. If you have not visited your happy place recently, this should be your prompt to go do that. The stress reduction is completely worth it.
  3. 1) Too many hobbies, not enough time. 2) Too many hobbies, not enough budget. 3) Wrong style of house to build most of what I desire to build.
  4. I think this is poor advertising, but much like the rural network of Bob Ross certified instructors, that taught Bob Ross painting.

    Hijack!

I had a jade bloom for the first time this year.
  6. Had fun with the arcs of light and shadow in the 99.7% totality we had where I work.
  7. CC will auto translate to English. They spend a lot of time in the roof system, and you can pause or slow down the playback and see some of the joinery detail.
  8. I think you need a multi-layer approach. You need a layer that can impart your color, and need to find a carrier that will work with the tint. If I recall correctly, TransTint, in your picture, has a specific formulation that is not universal. It goes better into alcohol and water, if you do not have a finish that has an emulsifier in it. That has led me to tint shellac as a base for color, if I find the color not mixing in the finish. This may well be the approach you need to use. Tint first, then poly over.
  9. Hey Coop, good find. That said, fences and siding behave differently due to air circulation restrictions when cladding a building. I wonder if that is why you found that pattern, but the fencing guys I found don’t push it?
  10. After several minutes looking at some installer videos, I don’t see anyone recommending shooting on boards where the fastener would be exposed that way.
  11. Is this correct? You see exposed nail shanks? Maybe this an expansion mitigation?
  12. Please post a picture of what you mean.
  13. The color of the feathers led to some hunting. The introduction of of Starlings and House Sparrows (both invasive cavity dwellers) led to habitat loss. Pesticide use has selectively limited lots of different bugs they used to eat. Hunted in my first post might have been a bit too narrow.
  14. They were hunted to near extinction, then preserved in human made houses. I don’t know of any still nesting in natural cavities. All populations are dependent on the human made homes. They are voracious bug eaters, and desired around farms.
  15. I’ve had that kit for over a year now. I can echo most, if not all of what you said Chestnut.
