Jasahan
Hello again. As I said in a previous post, I'm not a seasoned woodworker, and I use mostly recycled pallet wood. So I'm still trying to learn wood species. So here's another one. It was red (brighter red than the pics show) and had a distinct spicy smell when we cut it. Not necessarily cinnamon, and certainly not hot sauce spicy. But a spicy smell. Any guesses?
G S Haydon
Ok at risk of me making myself look like an idiot I think it might be ash?
Jasahan
so...I don't see the photos in this one. I accidentally posted it twice. whoops. anyway, so no, I'm fairly certain it is not ash. I do actually know ash. Just learned it a couple weeks ago. This grain is similar. But the ash I have is more yellow, and doesn't smell like too much of anything. At least, I'm pretty sure that that is what ash is. Looks like what I saw at Rockler Woodworking.
Beechwood Chip
Sorry - the forum software is doing something weird. I'll try to get the pictures back.
Tpt life
The pics I saw earlier looked oak to me.
Tpt life
http://www.hobbithouseinc.com/personal/woodpics/ Seems to be a good site but I only found it today so I would not swear by it.

wdwerker
Pictures? I don't see any pictures either!
Eric.
Maybe you scored some sweet Port Orford Cedar. Kinda doubt they'd make pallets out of it, though.
Chris H
Red tint and spicy small screams cherry, or cedar, but I can't see a pic, so I am not sure.
mikepdarr
Maybe padauk? I love the smell of it.
Beechwood Chip
I'm sorry about the pictures. I merged the threads and deleted the duplicate post, and when I deleted one post, the pictures disappeared from the other post. I don't know why that happened. I was hoping that the pictures could be recovered, but I guess not. Jasahan, can you post the pictures again? Sorry for the hassle.
