gdoyer
My two car garage has been overun by tools. I've got most of the big tools on wheels/mobile bases but I'd like to be able to bring different benches together within the shop to create outfeed tables, assembly benches, etc. The problem is that the garage floor is sloped heavily towards the door. Nothing in the shop is level at this point. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a speedy leveling system for benches that can be adjusted quickly and often. You can imagine that my bench being level prssed up against the side wall is going to be nowhere near the same height (or level) as part of my RAS table extension from the opposite corner of the shop. Are there any trick solutions out there? Thanks in advance...Geoff

Trip
==>Solution for sloped floor Move. PS. My current shop has one area with a dip in the floor. I use shims on the heavy tools and bench. I use levelers on shop furniture (outfeed table, assembly table, etc).
gdoyer
I left something out. Leveling the floor is not an option. I still like to pull the car in from time to time.
..Kev
Eric is spot on.. Leg levelers are probably the best answer.. http://www.rockler.com/heavy-duty-lifting-leveler
Freddie
Bundle of builder shims from the box store. $10 if youre on a budget. You can get fancy heavy duty levelers from the woodworking suppliers, or get light duty levelers that are in the felt bottom section at the box stores. gdoyer
I have those on my bench already but it's a tedious process to adjust especially to a 500lb+ bench. I guess I'll keep looking. A mini scissor jack for each leg that I could hook up a drill to would be ideal. Maybe I need to patent that one
wdwerker
Mark a spot on the floor, cut a disk that works in that spot. Lever up the bench and slip the disk in place.
Tpt life
I am not sure how much I would worry about level for wood working. Stable and parallel might be better. If your bench is two inches off from your floor, your work piece height is going to rise/fall as you walk along a level bench. It is early so my thoughts may be cloudy, but the thought occurs to me. wtnhighlander
I think the OP is concerned that his work surfaces are all in the same plane to allow use as a larger surface. If screw jacks are an acceptible option, maybe grab a couple from Harbor freight or Pep Boys. I've seen adjustable benches made exactly that way before.
