TerryMcK
Just been watching Back To The Future on Netflix in 4K. I noticed that when Marty went back to Doc Browns house in 1955 the workshop doors had cloud lifts. Doc Browns front door also had cloud lifts with ebony pegs. Also there appeared to be G&G furniture scattered around the house. It’s amazing what you see when you actually look.
wdwerker
Pretty sure parts were shot at the Gamble House. I love the story of when the last heir was trying to sell the house and a woman looking at it was planning to paint the main area white to brighten it up. The house was immediately taken off the market and that led to the donation & conservation of the home.
Chestnut
I thorsen house story interests me. It's owned by a Fraternity that has been working to care for it and restore what needs fixing. Apparently some of the students even made replica G&G furniture for it.
wdwerker
I think Daniel Peart is envolved it the restoration planning. He designed furniture pieces that would suit the style and were planned so the students could build them.
Chestnut
That would make sense. I like it because so few stories get about about Fraternities doing something good. A lot of fraternities do a lot of good for their communities but it's always over shadowed by that 1 guy that drank too much. 8 minutes ago, wdwerker said: Daniel Peart Did you mean Darrel or does he have a brother? I don't know a ton about Peart. @TerryMcK I want to go back and watch that now to catch some details.

gee-dub
Check out the family home in Bicentennial Man as well (the Robin Williams movie mash up of a couple of Asimov stories). The Fleishhacker Estate, the not quite so G&G build in Woodside, CA.
wdwerker
"Zathura" 2005 film definitely has G&G elements in the house. Film locations listed as " South Pasadena " 216 Oaklawn Avenue. Confirmed G&G designed home. Sold for $2.17 million in 2009
