Chris Bledsoe Posted December 4, 2019 Report Posted December 4, 2019 I'm trying to help a friend. She has an unfinished dough bowl that was used to catch water from a leak. Now it has black stains at the waterline. I'm trying to remove the stains and seal the bowl. I've tried several options from weak to strong. The last attempt was oxalic acid 1 to 1 mixture. That bowl is clean, but still stained. Any ideas would be appreciated. I really want to fix this problem for her. Quote
Tpt life Posted December 4, 2019 Report Posted December 4, 2019 Looks like mildew. Try peroxide or some other mildew remedy. Quote

Martin-IT Posted December 10, 2019 Report Posted December 10, 2019 mildew and some mineral deposit. It looks like maple, it stains easy. Sand it (using a mask, worst then normal dust with the mold in it). Quote
curlyoak Posted December 20, 2019 Report Posted December 20, 2019 Bleach kills mildew. You can sand after the bleach. No bleach on skin! Quote
