Chris Bledsoe
I'm trying to help a friend. She has an unfinished dough bowl that was used to catch water from a leak. Now it has black stains at the waterline. I'm trying to remove the stains and seal the bowl. I've tried several options from weak to strong. The last attempt was oxalic acid 1 to 1 mixture. That bowl is clean, but still stained. Any ideas would be appreciated. I really want to fix this problem for her.

Tpt life
Looks like mildew. Try peroxide or some other mildew remedy.

Martin-IT
mildew and some mineral deposit. It looks like maple, it stains easy. Sand it (using a mask, worst then normal dust with the mold in it).
curlyoak
Bleach kills mildew. You can sand after the bleach. No bleach on skin!
