Popular Post curlyoak
Mangoes are nicknamed king of fruit. Very appropriate. It has not always been that way. The last 75 years has given us some incredible fruit via hybridizing. Where I live is probably one of the best places in the country to grow it. That being said we have a big crop once in 5 years. The potential cold and more likely the march winds knock down the flowers. And there is always hurricane risk. But the fruit is so good we take what we can get. I am old and have been eating mangoes all my life. I have a tree of what I think is the very best hybrid. Valencia Pride. It has every attribute. The fruit is large, sweet, juicy, not stringy, a relatively small seed and bears later for a chance of better weather. My tree has about 50 fruits on it. Getting close to ripe. Each fruit is large enough for 2 people. But once I start eating it I cant stop until I ate it all.
drzaius
Nice. My favorite breakfast is whole grain toast with peanut butter and slice mango on it.
Mark J
You need a lime tree to go with those mangoes.

Almost no chance of getting fruit equal to fresh tree ripe mangoes. And unless you had direct access to a backyard tree it never is as good. As far away as Canada is, well not much of a chance. Even a lot of unaware locals do not experience the real deal. However if you like what you get some how some way you may taste the real deal and you will know it. You probably know that a persimmon taste terrible unless it is tree ripe. If it was not a typical lean year I would offer to send you one. Not this year. The sugar generated on tree ripe is replaced with cane sugar in preserves. On 7/9/2022 at 12:20 PM, Mark J said: You need a lime tree to go with those mangoes. I grow key limes. Key limes are a wild fruit. Not grafted. The only citrus I know of that is not grafted. There is no harvest time. The tree flowers 9 or 10 months a year. So there is fruit available most of the time but just a handful at the most but all a family would need. Except 2 or 3 months off.

Popular Post curlyoak
I just ate another delicious mango. They are best eaten over the sink as they are so juicy...Mangos give us a reason not to hate our worst climate of the year, summer. 1
