thewoodhouse
Hello, Is there such thing as a breadboard in the center of a table? I haven't seen anything like it yet, but due to a client telling me that a table would fit into a certain stairwell, which it didn't, the only thing I can do is split the table in two. I thought a center breadboard, if it was functional and allowed proper wood movement would look better. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Coop
I don’t see why not. I would have thought Googling farm house tables would have given me a link to provide you but apparently, they’re not done that often. I would treat it just like any other bread board in but double sided.
wtnhighlander
I agree it will provide a solution, assuming in is supported by the base. The center joint would be a bit weaker than the original top panel.
thewoodhouse
Thank you both so much. I figured it would be fine, but its always nice to bounce ideas around with fellow woodworkers.
Popular Post Ronn W
Yes there is. I built a ding room table for my daughter. The top is 42" x 96" and 1 1/4" thick white oak and weighs about 110#. I added a center stretcher under the top to support the center of the top. The top flexes if you try to lift by the ends so to move the top one must tilt it up on one edge and carry it vertically. But once in place it is solid. Pice so top and stretchers below.
