Basima00
HI All, I own an 8" Powermatic jointer (882HH) and the locking mechanism for the fence angle is frozen. Has anyone had this happen? It seems to be frozen in the unlocked position. I can use the adjustment wheel to bring the fence to 90 degrees but cannot lock it. The handle is completely frozen in both directions. I have removed the fence to make sure nothing was lodged but everything appears clear. Hoping to find help here.
curlyoak
I have a different brand of jointer so I cant help. But I have used customer service on a different tool and they were very good.
Tpt life
I’d disassemble as much as possible after taking a tour through the manual. There is likely binding somewhere. As much as I trust PM, it could be a burr or assembly issue. That mechanism should not require force to hold.
gee-dub
Are you talking about the tilt lock or the carriage (the part that moves the fence toward and away from the operator parallel with the floor) lock? The carriage lock is a cam and locks equally at both extreme ends of the swing.
Mark J
Have you tried WD-40 or penetrating oil, yet?
Tom King
This is my favorite thread penetrant: https://bluecreeper.com/ It may be nothing but automatic transmission fluid and acetone, which is a common mix, but I really like the little bottles with the tiny applicator that lets you dispense one drop, and they seem to have the mix dialed in perfectly.
