Popular Post Coop Posted April 27 Popular Post Report Posted April 27 This past week, I have been working on building a recessed cabinet for my brother’s on going bathroom remodel and I have acquired a new admiration for the lowly Kreg Hole kit. The cabinet is in two pieces, drawer section on bottom and shelf section on top. Brother lives about 30 minutes away and with the remodel not being just next door, I assembled the box and face frames with the Kreg screws in case I screwed up and they can be broken down and revised. After the fact, I realized that I hadn’t drilled the holes in the boxes to attach the frames but found an attachment to drill the holes in the kit that allowed me to drill these holes. For my situation they thought of everything. Just thought I would give recognition when justified. 6 Quote
gee-dub Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Amen. I have a bench-mount jig as well as a couple of the old style adjustable housings. The mini and a vise grip-style clamp have come in handy many times. I have the smaller bore version as well for 1/2" drawer boxes and such. I don't use pocket holes for everything but there are plenty of times when they are just the thing. 1 Quote
Von Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 I also have the 720 as well as some of the small, single-hole doohickeys (which are useful in tight situations). For some situations they are hard to beat. Quote
Popular Post fcschoenthal Posted April 27 Popular Post Report Posted April 27 I had an older kit (I think the K2000) that I used since about 2000 when it came out. Around 2020, I upgraded to the K5 Master kit, which included dust collection. I liked the clamp handle in the front instead of reaching behind the piece. I don't use pocket-holes very often, but they really come in handy for face frames or where you can't drive screws in any other way. I used it just the other day to make a couple of drawers that I didn't mind having the holes show up on the back. I see YouTubers make stuff exclusively with pocket-screws. I'll probably never do that, but they sure come in handy at the right times. 3 Quote
legenddc Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 I think I need a new drill bit so I might just pick up the mini. I have the K5 and like the clamp handle in the front as well. It doesn't get used a ton now, but they are great to have. 2 Quote
