Hippo
I figured someone would know how to do this here.. The protective table pad (not the wood) was ruined recently. I was wondering if there was a certain type of stain to use on the vinyl liner. It is mottled with black a bit throughout the wrinkles and was wondering if this could be done with a certain type of stain, or would you use a typical wood stain for this type of work? Thank You, Ben
wdwerker
I think the way to fix that is cover it up with a tablecloth! I don't think any of the skills or finishing products we use are going to help that table pad.
TRBaker
What material is the pad made of, Hippo? Welcome to the forum, btw.
Bill Craddock
How do you recover a vinyl covered table pad with new vinyl? Contact adhesieve?
wtnhighlander
Contact cement is a good option, but tricky to apply. Make sure you have the piece aligned before it touches the surface, its sort of a one-shot process.
Coop
Anytime I use contact adhesive, I place dowel rods or similar between the two surfaces to be mated and remove them one at a time. Either working center to outside or one side to the other.
Mark J
My suggestion is to replace the table pad.
Wimayo
There are a lot of vinyl repair products on the market similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Vinyl-Leather-Repair-Kit-Furniture/dp/B07ZN8JK88/ref=sr_1_42?crid=CL22X495X70C&keywords=vinyl+dye&qid=1646581790&sprefix=vinyl+dye%2Caps%2C145&sr=8-
Ronn W
If it doen't show through the table cloth I would cover it with the table cloth.
