Well, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but this is the 'design' area so...

Does anyone look at furniture/ websites for design ideas?

I browse tons of online stores/diy websites for items which are similar to what I want to build.

If an idea pops into my head i immediately hop online and check out similar items either fro sale or pieces people have built.

I am mostly interested in dimensions.  If there is a project or item listed for sale it usually is accompanied by dimensions which I then use as a baseline and begin drawing up my plans in AutoCAD.

Do any other members frequent either websites which offer free woodworking plans or maybe an online store with cool furniture?

Netflix, "Cadfael" the monk is using a French joinery bench as an herb preparation table. I do not often go looking, my eye just picks it out in the unlikeliest places. The same is true with furniture design for me.

Auction sites, like Sotheby's, Rago and Treadway are also a great source, as are museum sites. Pick a favorite furniture maker, do a Google image search, and you can kill half a day.

Museums.  Especially niche museums.  (My aunt is a senior curator at one, so I got a behind-the-scenes tour once.  I'm still amazed at what they had sitting in storage...)

I like the Houzz app photo gallery. I believe it is a design firm's app. There are lots of photos of higher end homes with some rather unique built ins and stand alones.
