mkirby
Im starting to work my way through semester 1 of the hand tool school and the 1st project is some winding sticks. Made from European Oak, Soft Maple and Walnut. This is the 1st thing i have ever made that didnt involve screws I think they came out looking quite smart. pghmyn
That's a really cool way to have the contrasting colors on top of the winding sticks. Nice job.
G S Haydon
Good work, what was wrong with a couple of bits of aluminium (missing the point I know). Bench top looks smart too, that new plane I guess?
Vic
Hah, my winding sticks are two pieces of left over primered mdf 1x4 trim. One edge was marked with a Sharpie. I know, I missed the point of the exercise, too.

mkirby
Thanks guys Graham i used the new jointer on the top. I had a huge cup at one end and a hump down the other due to a bad glue up. Took forever to get flat, really wish i had a foreplane but alas money is tight. Just need to get the top in line with the bottom as it has quite a taper to it at the moment. Nearly there then i can trim the old bench its sitting on to work out the perfect height before i build the frame. It was the perfect excuse to get my arse in gear and make my winding sticks. Saw hook and pairing hook coming next
