chrisphr
I've been finishing my time woodworking with dirty hands. I was handling a tennoning jig so it might be grease off the tool, but it seems to be harder to clean off than grease. Wondering if the walnut I am working with is the culprit... ..Kev
I've never known walnut to stain my hands but, to be honest, I really never paid attention to it.
chrisphr
Hmm, thought for sure that was it. I guess I'll have to pay attention to what I am touching!
Tpt life
If you hold a walnut in your hand and squeeze, the outer green husk will turn your hand black.

wtnhighlander
I think it would have to be wet to stain your skin. And pretty green as well.

T-astragal
Walnut and oak combined with iron or steel turn my hands inky purple/black. It won't wash off but I stumbled upon the fact that lemon or lime juice instantly removes the stains. Steve

I'm glad that this might be a "thing", I was starting to get concerned that I might be smudging grease on the project.
