JoshC1501
It is a comforting feeling knowing that when all else fails, as long as I can pair to a knife line, then should be able to create 90% of the joints used in furniture and cabinet making. Bill Tarbell
Sounds like someone's gaining some confidence from their woodworking classes
JoshC1501
That would be true! But it is these simple things in working with tools and wood that I do enjoy!
TerryMcK
I agree Josh. Keep them pairing chisel edges sharp
el capitán
Sounds like someone has been bitten by the hand tool bug. If you can saw (or pair) to the line then you can build it.
Trip
Paring to a line ---- here's a start-the-day hand-tool video from across the pond... These Workshop Heaven guys make a great video... BTW: For those who haven't seen RK's kit, the fit/finish are truly first rate... He makes a great line of honing guides...
G S Haydon
So good to hear you're enjoying it Josh, long may that continue! They are a good firm hhh. They are doing a "tool hand around" at the moment. A new to the UK shoulder plane is now being stocked and all we have to do is pay for postage to get a two day play. I could not resist. G S Haydon
Mmmmm, well it's chinese job so one factory, many names! This one is a Quangsheng http://www.workshopheaven.com/tools/Quangsheng-Luban-No.92-Shoulder-Plane-700405.html . FWIW WSH do have exellent standards and I'm sure they only allow the best. Interstingly, although Wood River is comng out of the same plant I have seem some evidence quality control is not so hot. To join the pass around you have to dip your toe into UKWS, do so at your peril! http://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/quangsheng-shoulder-plane-passaround-t81482.html
Tony Wilkins
One of the best things I ever did was get David Charlesworth's video on using Chisels. It's amazing what they can do in the right hands.
