Ron Stohr
I put this together without aid of jigs etc... Next time I will spend more time and probably cut small segments by hand! small segment cuts on a 12 inch miter saw are very scary! The 2 segmented rows are done so it is all end grain. wdwerker
A table saw sled with an adjustable angle fence and a toggle clamp is much safer and faster. The Bessey auto adjust toggle clamps are great.i have also used a pencil eraser on a new unsharpened pencil to hold small parts against a stop when making repeated cuts. Ron Stohr
Well if I had a real table saw a sled would be great. What I have now are two Shopsmiths one is a 1957'ish 10ER the other is a 1978 Shopsmith. They don't really have room for sleds. Someday I hope to sell one or both Shopsmiths and get a real table saw router table and lathe.
Brendon_t
I sold my early 60's shop smith years ago for something rediculous. I think I got in the $900 neighborhood for it..that is a great bowl you've got there. Well done. Edited August 30, 2015 by Brendon_t
davewyo
Wonderful bowl! I'd say that's a successful first try.

wtnhighlander
Really cool, Rob! How did you do the segmented glue up to leave the open spaces?
Ron Stohr
I did it all by hand all I used was a scrape piece of wood to get them all close to the same spacing but the glue-up was done by hand. space out a layer and then clamped to the workbench over night with a caul to spread out the pressure. wtnhighlander
Sounds tedious, but the end result looks really cool. Thanks for sharing.
