BillyJack
I get bored with shop projects especially when I'm unsure of what I want. I think I'll try something simple for the grand daughter and something complicated I can get started on.

Chip Sawdust
Well at least you found a use for all those spring clamps! Well, probably not ALL of them....
BillyJack
I think I bought 100 at the time and had a few Jorgensens, Irwins, etc around from pawn shop finds..Very, very useful for this kind of work...
BillyJack
I bought a container at Dollar General for $6.25. It holds 50 clamps and is good for storage. I need two more...I get tired of clamping ,unclamping clamps . Better in a container. My hand have become weaker with age. 2" getting harder to squeeze..
BillyJack
Pattern is feeling a bit springy and won't hold shape yet. Put a few more layers on and see then...some of these clamps are pretty stif1f or I'm just getting old..
Popular Post BillyJack
Couple more. No more inside just going out for the groove for the mirror...
wtnhighlander
Those layers look pretty thick, did you steam them? Or is the radius bigger than I think?
BillyJack
2x3.... strips planed down to just over 1/8. Too thick and it would disfigured the shape.
Popular Post BillyJack
Fits mirror perfect. Jus need to add a couple outside layers for the rabbit...
Chestnut
Nice I like it. I've always been a fan of bent lamination it's a fun technique.
BillyJack
Thx.. been wanting to do something in the bath . Thanks to pinterest for the photo suggestion. Good way to salvage a mirror from trash.. Didn't want to use a rabbet bit as it would probably tear the wood so I made my own rabbet with wider wood. The total thickness will be 1 1/8...

Sanjuan_woodworks
How do you keep those bessey gear klamps from popping on you. I like how they work but whenever I use them, and tap the piece with a mallet or maybe knock it a bit, it pops out, very frustrating. Sanjuan_woodworks
They look and operate just like that one, the ones in the shop at work are orange but no don't remember who makes them.
BillyJack
These?
Sanjuan_woodworks
Yes those are the ones, I guess there not the gear klamp. I wonder if ours are just getting dirty and abuse by the shop heathens. They seem to work great for you.
BillyJack
I like them and continue to buy them even though I have too many clamps. I decided I liked them over the Kreg slide bar automaxx clamps and selling them . There not a good cabinet clamp but better for furniture making....lighter duty...
Chip Sawdust
Lordy lord Billy you have a clamp addiction! I wish I had 1/4 that many
Sanjuan_woodworks
Never have enough clamps. I get what your saying, furniture making and cabinetmaking, especially a lot of the millwork i do, like making doors and such really requires a different type of clamp. To be honest i haven't met many clamps i didn't like and when you're in the heat of the moment it seems like they all get used. That looks like a pretty awesome facility you use to work at, looks huge compared to the place i work.
BillyJack
The place I worked at was Jacobe furniture.about a 100,000 square foot. So big it houses 2 indoor soccer fields. I'm not there anymore but I supplied my own clamps and already had clamps when I ran my cabinet shop. Now I got too many I was getting ready to have major surgery and they started having financial problems so it was an easy layoff for me. Got payed unemployment and then my disability check kicked. No Payless weeks...
BillyJack
I got too many clamps... one would say it's bragging but I needed these to make a living. Now I have way more than I can produce cabinets or furniture in my shop... trying to trade some off for more of what I do need.. F
