Popular Post phinds Posted May 14, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted May 14, 2022 Picked up some really nice canary wood recently and here are a couple of candle holders turned from one piece of each plank. Finish so far is just a couple of applications of clear stain. Not sure what topcoat I'll use on them. Red streaked one, about 5" diameter yellow one, about 3.5" diameter 12 Quote
Mark J Posted May 15, 2022 Report Posted May 15, 2022 They look great. As you say it was nice wood, but your form really brings it out. 2 Quote
BonPacific Posted May 15, 2022 Report Posted May 15, 2022 Those are nice votive-holders. I really like the clean shape. 1 Quote
gee-dub Posted May 15, 2022 Report Posted May 15, 2022 Cool little project that really lets the material stand at center stage. 1 Quote
Chet Posted May 15, 2022 Report Posted May 15, 2022 I like them both, but I really like the red grain in the first one. 1 Quote

sisiniaasthma Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 I really like the natural finish on these. It reminds me of a Chinese incense holder I picked up a while back that had a similar look—simple but elegant. The contrast between the light and dark wood adds a nice touch. Did you use a specific technique to prevent tear-out on the end grain? I always struggle with that, especially on smaller decorative pieces like these. Quote
