Hammer5573
I guess that I've been living in a fog for a while because there are so many products out there that I've never used of even heard of. One of those products is Old Brown Glue. I recently read an article written by a period furniture maker and he spoke very highly of this product. Has anybody used it; what are the advantages...? Mark J
I believe it is room temperature hide glue. i.e. doesn't need to be heated, but otherwise similar properties.

I’ve always purchased hide glue as crystals. I was always under opinion that hide crystals were superior to the room temp. type..?
pkinneb
I have used old brown hide glue for a couple years now on my Windsor chairs with good results. I just warm it up in a quart paint cup in hot tap water.
Ronn W
Old brown is practically the same as Tite bond liquid hide glue. I use it a room temperature unless, for some reason I need it to be thinner, then I agree w/ pkinneb.
