treeslayer
Has anybody ever had any luck sealing up a tube of silicone so it doesn’t harden up in the neck, I’ve never been able to find anything that would work, thanks in advance
Tpt life
Silicone is the worst offender, here is my best advice. Giant wire nut that will engage threads on the nozzle, then wrap in vinyl tape. Basically treat it like an old electrician wired it.
treeslayer
The wire nut I tried must not have been big enough, I’ll try a bigger one and some tape, thanks
Popular Post Tom King
I don't know about those small tubes, but I've not had any kind of caulking, including silicone, clog up a tip since using these things. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O994YRI?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-reorder-t1_k2_1_11&=&crid=7JHXE8J7GJX1&=&sprefix=caulking+ca edited to add: In fact I have so many of them tied up in use that this reminded me to order more. 1
BillyJack
I just wrap mine with blue tape and it seems to hold fine and doesn’t harden. Now I only cut to about a 1/16- 1/8 hole max on my tips.

Popular Post Tom King
My tip covers just came, and I remembered why I like these. They're reusable many times. I don't think I've had to throw one away since I started using them. Even construction adhesive doesn't stick to whatever they're make from, and will peel off pretty easily. When changing one to another type of caulking, I just wipe the pin off and pull off anything that's stuck to the outside. They aren't exactly real cheap, but they save looking for something else to serve the purpose. When a tube is emptied and another not opened yet, they just get wiped off and put back in the caulking toolbox for the next time I need one. I put it on as tight as I can get it, squeezing any air out, and pull back on the gun plunger a little.
