Popular Post treeslayer Posted July 26, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 26, 2024 The B29 “FIFI” made a stop in town and went with my grandson on a tour, what a great experience to see a part of history 7 Quote

Popular Post JohnG Posted July 26, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 26, 2024 Very cool. My grandfather flew a B-29 in the Korean conflict. When he was around 90 years old, my dad went with him to see Fifi, and he climbed up into the cockpit and sat in the pilot’s seat. 7 Quote

Popular Post Tom King Posted July 27, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 27, 2024 I would have loved to have been able to do that. The P-51 is one of my favorite planes. Pam's Father was a medic on ships during WWII. He was also the ship's photographer and after serving crossing the Atlantic countless times on troop transport ships, he was transferred to the Pacific. We have a picture he took of the Enola Gay taking off in the night from Tinian island. He said scuttlebutt was that no one knew what the mission was, but that it was "something big" 3 Quote
Popular Post treeslayer Posted July 27, 2024 Author Popular Post Report Posted July 27, 2024 I actually had the honor of meeting Colonel Tibbets many years ago, he spoke in town here along with his navigator i think and some others, it was a pleasure to shake his hand and thank him for his service 5 Quote
