Eric.
But still had fun! I had a few days to kill and a couple nice figured maple boards laying around, so I thought I'd catch up on one of the Guild builds.
thewoodwhisperer
Fantastic job my friend. Looks exactly like the one I have next to my comic book reading chair! Love the last picture!
Eric.
Thanks Marc! It was received by my two year old as expected...complete indifference.
PMR
Nice work Eric, I like that you used the maple on the drawer sides also... Hand cut dovetails???
Eric.
Thanks Pat. No, I wish I could hand cut dovetails that nice. They were done on my Incra router table.
Tbeaulieu
Eric, that table is awesome. I've yet to work with figured wood. The pure lines of the design and crisp execution juxtapose (I never get to use that word) to the figure is outstanding. I just got an Incra LS Positioner and while I hope to get better (ok, any good at all) with handcutting dovetails, I'll be content with making crisp joinery like that for quite some time! Llama
Love this table!!
Eric.
Thanks guys. Todd, you'll love the Incra setup. It can do so many things and it's incredibly precise. On the downside, it does keep you from practicing (and perfecting) other techniques because it's so fast and easy. It's kind of like learning to drive on an automatic transmission. I know it's kept me from getting better at hand-cut dovetails...I can do them, and they're not bad...but I'm super slow. Klaus would have a stroke if he watched me do a drawer. Byrdie
Love when somebody revives an old thread. I hadn't seen this one before. I really love the tiger striping in this piece. Great choice of wood and application to project.
Eric.
Thanks Byrdie! Love me some curly maples! Can't take credit for much here...the Shakers created a perfect design and a Guild build makes thinking almost unnecessary. It's a fun little table to make, though. Easy peasy! G S Haydon
+1 Byrdie, this thing is beautiful, excellent as alwayd ~ERIC~, as for Klaus having a stroke, I think he would be ofering you a job!
Eric.
No way, he'd sit there and yell German schlocken frocken at me while I make one cut every three minutes. Ah! Cutten een da vaste you shtoopid!
