Cygnus A
Title says most of it.. Do Sawstops come prelubed? The manual says nothing about it during the assembly, but in the back it has a lubrication guide. My Grizzly specifically stated I needed to lube it during assembly. gee-dub
No initial action required in the area of lubrication on my PCS. Routine maintenance only.
drzaius
Mine was lubed. The manual is not specific about what lube to use when the time comes to clean & regrease. So I called SS tech support & had a lengthy discussion with a very friendly rep. Bottom line is that they recommend wheel bearing grease. They specifically do not recommend using wax, graphite or other dry lubricants. He said they will allow the parts to move smoothly & easily, but they do not protect against wear nearly as well as a good grease will. I've found that the dust collection is so good that there is very little dust that escapes the blade shroud & collects on the greasy bits. Barron
Did he indicate how frequently to lube? I had my Grizzly for about seven years and never lubed it and never had an issue, but I want my Sawstop to last forever. (Or at least as long as I do.) drzaius
No schedule given. Just when the grease gets thick & stiff. On my Jet contractor's saw I cleaned & greased it maybe every 5 years or so. I think it'll be longer with the SS cause there's so much less dust in there.
Tom Cancelleri
I tend to avoid using grease on the trunnion gears, it attracts too much sawdust. I use this cleaner and polymerized lubricant that dries on the gears. Works great. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
