dwacker
Well that's comforting to hear. Is there a cut and dry reason that it occurred? I don't have much spray experience so I suppose it could be technique, too much fluid, etc? Most likely material to thick. The earlex does not have much power so thinning down the lacquer next time should get you a better finish. Contrary to belief most all finishes need to be thinned to one degree or another especially with a turbine.
AceHoleInOne
The lacquer is not flowing out. Your not getting enough lacquer down on the surface. Dry spray. You need a nice wet coat as your final. Block sand with some 600 and get things nice and level, then apply a nice wet coat. This is solvent lacquer correct? -Ace-
HunterL
Ace, I'm using Sherwin Williams CAB acrylic lacquer. Last night I got the inner liner installed.
wdwerker
Looks nice ! Don't you love the way that Spanish Cedar smells ? I built a walk-in humidor and a bunch of humidor lockers for a cigar bar. After a few weeks I was almost getting used to the smell. There are pictures on my website if your interested . wouldwurker
Looking good. The other day i wiped a Spanish Cedar bench that I made 6 months ago with a bit of denatured alcohol - that aroma came back 10 fold. The whole basement smells amazing! HunterL
Well, I've officially made it 7 days of cure time. Based on my work schedule and the fact that I'm not sure what the cold does to cure time, I'm waiting another week. Patience in finishing? This is very unlike me... AceHoleInOne
What you mean cold???? Get that bad boy in the house to cure.
wdwerker
If it doesn't smell strongly of laquer I would definitly bring it inside for a few days to acclimate and finish hardening up before polishing.
AceHoleInOne
Hey, if the old lady can paint and dry her nails in the house (lacquer) you can bring your project in the house. -Ace-
HunterL
Ill bring it in for the next week! Its not freezing cold or anything in the shop, just colder than the house.

wouldwurker
Yep! Nice. If you haven't used it before with an ROS, prepare to have some of it fly at you, your eyes, the table, and anything in a 3ft radius. Cover up your tablesaw if it's close by. Start with a tiny squirt, and work up from there. First time I used it, I put a big glob on the buffer, turned on the ROS, and turned my shop into a Jackson Pollock painting. HunterL
Well, boys. I think I burned through the finish in the obvious location. Looks like this project is going to test my patience far more than I thought! Good thing I've got my ash to get going on my next one! See photo...
