Coop
I'd go for it. Especially if you have a mill close by and a way to get it there and a place to store it for two years and you're not 90 years old. I just paid $8.50 bf today for a piece of walnut today while my 2.5" slabs dry for another year and a half. And the one I bought today doesn't even have a live edge
..Kev
If nothing else, you get the experience to know if you want to do this again in the future. The only thing you're out is time and money.
woodbutcher74
Those are definitely not black walnuts. I have gathered black walnuts with my grandfather when I was a pup and my neighbor has a walnut tree that the squirrels plant all over my yard. Not black walnut. tim0625
WELL.....no matter what it is, it's wood and it has some nice colors. Cut 2" slabs and cut the crotch for turning a totally unique bowl and wait.....this is the wine making of wood.
Janello
That's a floor nut tree, closely related to the wall nut tree. It does look interesting. I would go for it.
