Eric.
I have the Fes OF1400 as my everyday driver. Gets used for most non-router table tasks. PC7518 in the router table. Dewalt DWP611 for smaller tasks and as a secondary router for inlay with the 1/16" bit. Pair of Bosch Colts that are permanently fitted with a roundover and chamfer. And an old Ryobi that I use mostly to clean my neighbor's teeth with. I SAID GOOD DAY
PeteJr
I have 5 routers including the very first craftsman one I purchased over 25 years ago. The great thing about routers is that you can own more than one and it's OK.
semberrg
I hate when this happens and I have to apologize. Just having kind of a bad day, semberrg...don't take the lashing personal. What I meant to say was: Welcome, semberrg! There have been a lot of threads on this very topic on this very forum...you've come to the right place! You should try a search and check out the old threads here...lots of good advice! Aaaand...apologies again for the passive-aggressive apology. But I do mean it sincerely. You are welcome here and there are no stupid questions...only redundant questions. Yea I'm trying to figure this app out my apologies. Lol I'm not one to be offended easily so no worries. Popular Post Woodenskye
Semberg. Welcome. I have the same router and it is very good, it works well even in a router table. Instead of a fancy soap box for Eric, just find a picture of Giada naked and tape to a cardboard box.

wdwerker
I must have about 20 routers. The Bosch is a very good place to start. Avoid Ryobi and Craftsman. When your skills have improved and you want easier to adjust with better dust collection, quieter etc then save up for a Festool .
Coop
Steve, out of your 20, is it that much better and do you have it in your table? And what makes it better. I've been collecting my Coke bottles and need to get me another one! Oops, you answered my second question.
wdwerker
Porter Cable 7518 in my main router table, the Bosch goes in my 3rd router table sometimes. I have a predecessor to the 7518 that goes in the 2nd table. This lets me set up panel raise, cope and sticking so I can run small batches of door parts. Multiple laminate trim routers, each one is set up for a specific task. I built a 6 ft long router table with a power feeder and a Porter Cable 690 that's just for running 1/4" x 1/4" grooves for drawer bottoms and cabinet backs. I get 6 or 7 years per motor then replace it when the cut quality( bearings) starts to degrade. If I need a bit set up to mold edges it gets left that way until the whole job is done. Same for dovetail jig etc.

Coop
I'm thinking of buying a new table saw but instead of hijacking here, I think I'll start a new thread for suggestions and opinions?
Popular Post ColinF
I'm thinking of buying a new table saw but instead of hijacking here, I think I'll start a new thread for suggestions and opinions? it's cheaper to just buy a circular saw, double stick tape it to some cheap plywood and use it as a tablesaw. A 2x4 and a couple harbor freight quick grip clamps make a good fence! Shh, listen... Yep, that's Eric's head exploding
