..Kev
First time I've ever seen it.. Pretty interesting idea!
Stobes21
Pretty interesting. Amazon sells it. Looks like $160 for the head and $150/per profile insert pair. They also sell a similar system by a company called Corob that is a lot cheaper. It looks to use molding knives much more like a molding planer. trz
Nothing new under the sun. Molding heads similar to these have been around for table saws and radial arm saws for a long long time. I think Sears sold some. I aquired my Dads old Dewalt RAS when he passed away and I've got one of these molder heads for it (not magic molder brand though). Tom King
I have one of those Sears molding heads still new in the box the way I bought it in 1974. I got it along with the RAS, when I bought it, but looked at it and was never brave enough.
wdwerker
I have used the Craftsman version. If you take small amounts off with each pass and set up a hold down and feather board (sideways to the fence) it works ok. I was always afraid of the cutters breaking or coming loose so I stood to the side while feeding. Magic Molder looks much better but still take small amounts would be my suggestion. Softwoods might take a deeper cut but hardwoods maybe an 1/8 deep each pass.
prov163
Thanks Steve. Not sure I am going to buy some, but the concept is cool!
