adambaum
I'm using ArmrSeal to finish a bandsaw box made out of Alder. The wood is so dry that even though I flooded it three times in under a minute, every bit soaked in and the wood looks like its already dry. Didn't have to wipe anything off and its dry to the touch. I spent more time getting gloves on and stirring the finish in the can that I did applying it. Something tells me not to keep this wood anywhere near an open flame. wdwerker
Let that coat dry. Then the next ones will add on top and eventually reach the surface.
Brendon_t
I had some qswo do the same thing recently. Felt like it was a funnel. Once it solidified, the next one was much better
Ronn W
Wow. Alder soaking up finish like that!!!! I would definitely give what you have done a chance to really dry so it will act as a stop for the next coat.
wtnhighlander
Or just keep soaking it to geat a fully stabilized piece of wood! ?
AceHoleInOne
If the finish is being pulled in that deep. Remember to go slow and give it extra time to dry between coats. If you don't, the wet finish that's locked in deep will be gassing off through your subsequent coats giving you issue. Think of it like a sponge. The exterior of the sponge is dry, however, the inside is still wet. Longer the better. -Ace-
treeslayer
that sure is a thirsty piece of wood adam, i have been using dewaxed shellac as a first coat to save my ARS, dries really quick and seals the wood for the next coat of the good stuff
