I have been reading about shellac lately (so I can french polish a table top) and I have seen several claims that shellac layers meld together rather than remaining as multiple distinct layers. Chet Posted February 6, 2017 Report Share Posted February 6, 2017 I may be wrong but I think the problem the OP had were some runs in the shellac on the cherry panels and unfortunately didn't notice it until he already had started the top coat process.
