Popular Post Ronn W
Being a recovering engineer I usually draw a project in drtail before I build it. But this time I kinda design it as I went and it kept getting more and more complex. I'm pretty sure I would try it again but it was an interesting idea. Yeah, I learned a lot on this one. Top is a ls floating panel - maple. Front and back are solid Willow (I think), walnut, osage orange, padauk and mahogany with maple cap. Ends are the same species in 1/16" veneer over 1/2" baltic birch plywood, Pieces for ends were stacked (6 Layers) with double sided tape, cut on scroll saw and reassembled and glued to plywood. Base is maple. Bottom is 1/4" OSB. Finish is shellac.
RichardA
That's no engineer's design... That's a wild man's effort, and the wild man won. Ya done good.
pkinneb
Very nice! Took me a minute to get my head around how you actually accomplished it lol
Chet
Thats pretty cool. Definitely "outside" the box thinking. Did I miss it, did you finish the table you were building?

The table is on hold since my daughter is having "Contractor trouble" with her new house and there is not move in date yet. I have no place to put the 44 x 96 table top if I finish it now
wtnhighlander
This is what happens when engineers get bored .... Nicely executed!
Adam Campbell
Sweet, really stepping up the design aesthetics of a keepsake box.
