Popular Post Tmize
i had some free time between honey dues an been looking for a decent project that that I could work on my hand plane to finish an dimensioning skills as well as my saw work. So I have been wanting to build one of these for a while. So I had enough walnut laying around from another project an here you go. I roughly followed popular woodwork free plan on there website for dimensions. So far it just a coat of BLO on it now. I haven't decided if I'll do poly or try shellac yet.
Chestnut
I really like the strait grain walnut that you used on this. It really does well with the style of the table. Personal preference but i don't know if i like the beveled edges for the drawer, but that is me. The dovetails look great though. Did you hand cut them? Tmize
Yea they are all hand cut an thru tails on the back. I've been doing cutting thru for bout 6 months but was my first try with half blind I didn't have the bevels at first but after I fitted the drawer I keep thinking it needs something. I do have a problem with going over board with chamfers.

Now I go with just one or two light passes with a block plane, this works perfect for me.

Tmize
Thanks it was a fun project. I've learned a lot off of here it's has surprised me how my style an attention to small details has changed in just the last 6 to 8 months of lurking on here. An doing more just true joinery instead of well it just be quicker to just do this an putty it later.
