Soo… I acquired a large box filled with old Stanley Hand Planes and am in the process of restoring a few to use. However, I also found these 2 identical and pretty old looking clamps of some sort. What are these?!?! Guys at Rockler and Woodcraft both had no idea. Pics below...

Are you sure they are "clamps"? The shape in photo #1 almost suggests some sort of highly-specialized router plane.

Really I have no idea. But I do think you are on to something. Upon closer inspection it does appear there is (or was at one time) an edge on the part I circled in the pictured. Also I noticed that the point I have pointed to appears to have mushroomed from being struck with a hammer I assume.

My curiosity is growing. Don't suppose you can post more photos of different angles, can you?

Sorry I had more but they kept failing for some reason. Here are some new ones. This is purely curiosity I'm usually pretty good at figuring this type of stuff out and when I'm stumped I hit up my Dad. When he was stumped it just bothered the s*** out of us. LOL

The thing that puzzles me about the one this thread is about, is how thick the wedge is, and it has an "anvil" to hit to drive it in place.  Plus, it seems awfully short for siding, but that may just be the picture.

True Tom. I wonder if that is for repair, as in seperating painted old work. Seems strange to have it on the gauge. Just noodling.

Edit: Maybe it is like a planing stop? Hammer that wedge into the side of a timber on scaffolding or something to support an edge?
