BillyJack
Of users on the forum. Once a name is created is it there forever?
drzaius
I know user names change frequently, which leads to all kinds of confusion. I can see wanting to change avatars, but I think usernames should remain constant.
BillyJack
I mean old user names that are extinct. After forums running this many years you would think they would recycle...
wtnhighlander
@..Kev might be able to answer that. AFAIK, there is no automatic routine to 'cancel' accounts that have been inactive for x period of time.
Tpt life
The problem is that folks like Don have been gone awhile, but their tips are pure gold.
..Kev
Yes, the name lasts forever unless the entire account is removed. If the account is removed, so are their posts.
wtnhighlander
Did an admin change Don's handle to his name after he made his final post? That was before my dive into the mod pool, but searching for Particleboard only turns up posts where someone mentions him by that handle. All his posts show up as D. Whacker now, I think. drzaius
The problem is a lot of those old members have had numerous different user names & it's hard to remember which was the last one when doing a search.
Coop
I think I remember Eric changing his a couple of times.
wtnhighlander
I'm pretty sure the last username they selected for their profile is what appears in the heading of their posts, even if they used a different name when the post was made. Eric went by 'Kiki' for a while, but I don't think you will find that name on any of his posts. Maybe.
Tom King
I always have used my real name on forums. Just simpler to remember, and no question who I am. Not scared.
Tpt life
I have said this before, but as a middle school teacher, I need to be careful how many places I show up in a Google search. I don’t want that here. PM and I will tell you anything you want to know. One forum update defaulted everyone to their email address several years ago. I think that is when Don became dwhacker.
BillyJack
I've used Bob Villa onother forum because I had trouble getting back on because of a email slip up. But the quickly fixed fixed..lol Rebelwork or Rebelwork woodworking was my company name till I changed it to Jack Duren Cabinets. BillyJack because me and my brother Billy were students in karate and Kung fu amd I like Tom. Bob Villa when necessary. .. At one time in the 80's I had hats made up that said "WoodArt". But I saw in 90's it was used by Australian woodart... so I dropped it..
