Popular Post Chestnut 5482
Our kitchen doesn't have a ton of counter space. Megan saw an undercabinet knife holder at my parents house and asked if it'd be something I could make. Because it's a pretty simple box and i had an example I said yes. The most complicated part of the project was getting it mounted under the cabinet. We have some undercabinet lighting that I had to notch the mounts around. Construction is chery miter joints reinforced with walnut splines. The pins are brass stock. I initially tried using magnets to hold it up but I had 8 rare earth magnets in place and it was not even close to holding so they were abandoned for a roller latch. To hold the knives I just did some kerf cuts at 45 degrees on the table saw. The handle side was scribed to the handle and cut out on the band saw and sanded with the OSS. The knife holders are held in place with screws from the bottom. This is for the event that I need to modify the holder to accommodate a new addition. Now I just need to round out my knife set and ditch the cheap walmart knives that i keep around for cutting things that I shouldn't be cutting with a kitchen knife anyway.

treeslayer 3325
Nice work as usual Drew and a great way to save counter space, what holds the brass pins in place? Store bought or home made ?
Coop 7461
Nice job Nut! Just curious. What are the four screws on the top edges of the sides for and the knob looking things, one per each side on the inside? Reading back, I bet the knob things are the afore mentioned roller latches?

Screws are to engage the magnets. The knob thingies are the roller latches. I also forgot to mention the arm lengths are 6" between holes for the front and 5" between holes for the rear. That ratio makes it swing forward and tilt really nice.
