Sac
Whats up yo!! Sitting in the shop today at about 11 or so, when then the UPS man showed up to with a present.. This is my B-day present from my wife... Well, thats what we are calling it anyway.. Really i am just spoiled rotten.. I got me G0609X 12" Jointer w/ Spiral Cutterhead . I am upgrading from a 6" Grizzly jointer. This was a good jointer, that is why I thought that I would give it a try again. So I called Papa Griz and placed my order. Everything was great. Their customer service was good and they got it out quick.. Here are a few pics..
Vic
And pretty darn well set up right outta the box, huh!?!? I had a tweak my parallelism just a bit. But dead accurate! Sooner or later, I'm gonna spot weld the fence at 90.

Sooner or later, I'm gonna spot weld the fence at 90. I was setup up real good out of the box.. They say that if the beds are within .010- .012, to leave it alone. Mine was within, so I left it alone. Ran a test piece and it was great. Going to get a little used to the height but other than that, it is great.. I can see where the standard height of that bugger wouldn't be ADA approved. But, it IS SWEET, huh!?!?!
PurpLev
congrats Sac. but seriously - how comically does it look jointing a 2x2x12 on this carrier?
Dave F
That thing is HUGE !!!!! You could do the jointery on a timberframe house.... Yes, I'm jealous.. Very cool.

Just to have the room to set that up is impressive. Just as an aside, is it me or does anyone else love the smell of tool oil?
Emmrys
My goodness....My whole family could eat Thanksgiving dinner on that thing! Congrats and be safe. It looks like it could take a nasty bite. Elbows UP!
jimmykx250
Wow what a sweet machine! Just curious whats involved in cutterhead changing?
Sac
but seriously - how comically does it look jointing a 2x2x12 on this carrier? It does look pretty funny.. I face jointed some 11x18 w/oak and it was just tiny on that huge bed. I just want to get a bunch of toy airplanes and helicopters and land them on that thing.. Just as an aside, is it me or does anyone else love the smell of tool oil? My shop really does smell like that preservative oil that the beds are covered in.. Elbows UP! That is no joke.. I think about it every time that I joint something... Wow what a sweet machine! Just curious whats involved in cutterhead changing? The cutterhead, I have no idea, the inserts for the cutterhead are held in with a T25 screws. Real easy to change..

BuilderBill
Daddy, you SUCK! Nice piece of machinery, looking forward to hear how it works out for you. Always wanted a 12" or bigger jointer, just nowhere to put it. I'll post some pix of the Laguna 14x14 SUV when it gets delivered and assembled, then you can tell me how much I suck... Congrats! Dan S
When did UPS start delivering stuff that big? I thought they had something like a 75 lb. weight limit.
BuilderBill
When did UPS start delivering stuff that big? I thought they had something like a 75 lb. weight limit. It comes LTL on a lift gate. Shipping from CA to GA was $170 for residential delivery, not bad considering the damned thing ships at 420 lb. Now I gotta buy a new hand truck just to get it up the driveway.... Best, Bill

Sac
When did UPS start delivering stuff that big? I thought they had something like a 75 lb. weight limit. It was UPS Freight. Anything over that 75lb limit goes via freight I think. Sac, The last time I checked, UPS doesn't carry a Skid Steer with them on the truck? It that how you unloaded? That was my neighbor.. I own him some beer for that.. Worked out pretty good.

Dave F
Things like that are the very reason that I'm going to get pallet forks on the FEL for the tractor I'm buying next year..

cts1085
I kinda felt the same way when my Grizzly 17" extreem bandsaw was delivered - had a time trying to get it out of the freight truck! Have fun as stay safe!
