Popular Post dewitteridder
I thought I would share a photo of a new cutting board I made. This is a 24"x24" cutting board that is 1 3/4" thick. Because of the nature of the design I couldn't do the standard glueing up strips and cross cutting to get a check board pattern. Looking back this board is a little big as it doesn't fit in my sink very well but oh well. I hope you enjoy the picture

Nice cutting board man!
dewitteridder
Yeah just a glue up and a crap load of sanding to level things out. I just did it one row at a time. I'm making another one with a different design. I'll post it when it is done. Thanks for looking
-MattK-
now I have the Mario theme tune stuck in my head! Excellent work!I have a similar "8 bit" style piece I want to make.. what wood did you use? maple, walnut and ___?
dewitteridder
I used Sapele for the brownish color. I had a large 8/4 board laying around the shop. There may be better colored woods out there but this way I avoided having to buy another 8/4 board

Coop
Very well done! 24" x 24", at least no one will be putting it their pocket and taking it home after a party!
dewitteridder
Haha true true. My original design called for 2"x2" squares until I realized that standard countertop depth is like 24" I had to do a second round of milling after I realized that
davewyo
Really nice cutting board. It's nice to see one that isn't a symmetrical pattern.I used to play Mario...well I guess you could say I was addicted to Mario Bros. in the mid 80s. Played with my nephew until his mother was sick of us. Nice way to get carpal tunnel syndrome...
wouldwurker
Love the video game boards. A year or two ago I bought a mega man cutting board as a wedding present for a buddy of mine - are you that same dude I bought it from? I think the site was 1337Motif, or something along those lines?
