Jfitz
Not sure what 4/4 was, but recently my yard had 8/4 (rift/quartered) for $11.25/bf, 12/4 was $12.78/bf, and 16/4 for $16.47/bf.
rodger.
Was at the lumberyard today, and 4bf of 4/4 walnut cost me 50.61 after taxes.
BeautysBeast
6.97 a bd ft for us common folk up here in Wisconsin. Yahuh. Thankfully I have 100 bdft that is just about finished drying, in the house in TN.
Sawdustdad
New to the forum, first post. Howdy to all my fellow woodworkers. Love working with walnut. Not sure the retail price here in Virginia, as haven't bought any retail in many years. I usually buy from local sawyers green and dry it myself. Last load I bought was about 50/50 cherry and walnut, 2000 bd ft +/- at 80 cents/bd ft. Of course it's mill run, so a mix of grades with about 30%-40% FAS boards. The rest lower grades, but works fine for most projects as the lower grade boards still yield good lumber for smaller parts. here is some of it in the shop. All the 8/4, 12/4 stuff is on the floor.
Eric.
Nice. You can hardly buy firewood at 80 cents/bf. I might even deal with rough/green commons at that price. And I hate rough/green commons.
KenMasco
If I could find Walnut locally for $7.96/bdft I would buy a bunch of it we pay $15 +++ here in Southern California
davewyo
I just paid $14.08 for 4/4 FAS S2S. Although it says S2S it comes at 13/16" and is actually planed on the faces and ripped on both edges.

Wow. Hope it's some seriously nice material.
LazarusDB
I can sometimes get what I need at a better price from my local Rockler...surprisingly. They don't have nearly the selection the hardwood supplier does though.
phinds
Just stopped in at Curious Hardwood (a division of Curtis Lumber) up above Albany and I saw they had "wide" walnut (didn't look all that wide to me, maybe 10"-12") for $14.19 (4/4)
Coop
I'm going to bring my remaining slabs inside. At that rate, my 401k may be secondary
Sawdustdad
Seems like I could sell a few boards and buy a Sawstop.
