My name is Al King and it is a pleasure to be joining all you great woodworkers out there. I am excited to be part of this forum and to be able to showcase some of my projects. I like turning northern cedar in my small shop and also building custom boxes. To see more of what I have been doing, visit www.akwoodworkingshop.com

Nice looking work !   And Welcome to the Forum !

We call that Eastern Red or Aromatic Cedar . There is an Atlantic White cedar but I've never used it. I think they made wooden buckets with it. So many names for similar stuff. Until you get down to genus/species it's hard to tell.

Welcome boxes look nice. I like the idea of lining the box with money from i assume vacations. That could be mixed with using wood from the area the money came from.

Actually, I was in the Navy and this money was from all the countries I visited and converted US dollars. I made this for my 5 year old grandson for Christmas. I used Mod Podge to glue the money and then applied more of it on top to seal the surface. It dries clear and is waterproof.

First, Thanks for the greetings and kind words. I have been looking around the internet and this site is BY FAR a real woodworkers forum. I see already a clansmanship of dedicated and friendly woodworkers that exchange ideas and info. A true breath of fresh air !
