Popular Post Klappco
Lisa gave me this stone checkerboard and checkers a while back. I guess the guy who makes them does each one to order. It is cool but it needed something more. Got a beautiful Sapele board and proceeded to put this together. Mitered the corners to have the grain run around. Reinforced the miters with biscuits. Made an inset drawer front from the fron piece and used some white oak scrap for the drawer sides and back. First chance to resaw on the Jet! Went well. Drawer is lined with leather. Finish is two coats of a two pound cut Garnet Shellac covered by two coats of Semi Gloss ARS. Imbedded magnets in in the back of the drawer and in a small block inside the back wall to keep the drawer from falling out. I played and played with it to get a good balance of gold versus easy to pull open. Works well.

Chet
Thats good looking. Is the checker board attached or just sitting in place?

The weight of it holds it down quite well and I can remove it if needed.
Klappco
The chicken was good. Used Oakridge Smoky Chile Lime Rub. A new one by them that is awesome on chicken. Smoked on the rotisserie with oak wine barrel staves for smoke.
