Don’t all saws have injury and laceration risk? 

I think mine is one of the models listed, I’ll check tonight.

Sounds like it's a bad batch of plastic, leaving the old guard extra brittle and prone to breaking off. I definitely prefer a saw with an intact blade guard. If for nothing else so it's not spewing more sawdust at my face than normal.

Mine is too old to be on the list.  708 and still cuts dead true.  As far as I know, the blade has only ever locked up once, and that was when a friend was using it.

I've had the springs break, the bearing go out soon after purchase. The more they make and cheaper the more problems they have. I  sold my 706 but still have my 708 without a glitch..I thinks Dewalt is like a lot of manufacturers, they climb on quality parts in the beginning to lure you in. Once you are a Dewalt customer the parts get cheaper and the tool starts breaking.
