picciuto@yahoo.com Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 How many beers do you limit yourself while in the shop? Quote
mds2 Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 No more than a dozen. I like to play it safe. 2 Quote
Frank Speyerer Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 It's guys like you that made my job in the E.R. interesting at night. 2 Quote
jhl.verona Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 No more than a dozen. I like to play it safe. Root beer, obviously. I mean nobody drinks real beer in the workshop, right? John Quote
Eric. Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 Power tools? No beers, no exceptions. I'll knock back as many as I want if I'm just sitting at the bench tinkering with hand tools, though my results get exponentially worse as the night progresses. Typically I don't drink at all if I'm working on a project that has any importance, but a six pack, a radio, and a simple hand tool project can be quite an enjoyable night...and a miserable morning after. You know you're getting old when a six pack hangs you over. Quote
TimV Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 Zero. I've had a couple of severe but fully healed injuries in the shop and they had nothing to do with drinking. I don't want any excuses. I don't want to be that guy that everyone says he was drinking and doing what? Quote
Boatworks Today Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 I'm with eric1978; handsanding, brainstorming, designing and a cool 6'er with some tunes = All for it as long as it's a personal project Having to work with power tools or anything sharp = zero.. That's what the end of the day is for! Quote
Jfitz Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 None while working with anything powered or sharp. Might have a few if cleaning up, puttting stuff away, vacuuming. Quote
Mister Pants Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 When working with anything powered zero, nada zip. If I'm cleaning, designing, sitting and looking sure. Quote
dcustoms Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 I had to remove my mini bar from the shop...things got scary Quote
Rapid Roger Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 Beer-thirty usually starts around 4:30 here. After the power tools get quiet and I can concentrate on the meaning of life better. "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." Ben Franklin Rog 1 Quote
Jfitz Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." Ben Franklin I have that quote on one of my pint glasses!! Quote
Boatworks Today Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 Truth be told, I never have any beer at the shop; but there's plenty at home!! Limit? --> not sure I know what you mean -Ha Ha I spend too much time at work as it is, no need to stay any longer than I have to. A bon-fire pit, my girls, a stocked cooler and some ribeye's on a Fall October evening... Priceless! Quote
PeteJr Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 You can have as many in the shop as you like, as long as they remain unopened. Quote
ChetlovesMer Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 I'm more of a coffee in the workshop kind of guy. Quote
Deaser Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 Beer? I can't drink anything with this dang respirator on my face! 1 Quote
Bobby Slack Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 Absolutely not. Only Malbec ... and that is if I am sanding. The moment I have a drop of alcohol all my cutting power tools are off my hands ... and unplugged. Quote
Derwood Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 Beer? Screw that. That 7 bucks is such a waste of money. What is it with beer that's so special. Take my seven and I'd rather a strip steak, certified angus, medium rare. -and change in my pocket. Quote
jHop Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 You know, I've been craving a beer for a while now. I'm starting to get thirsty. It's probably been about three months since I've had one... maybe I'll treat myself tonight.... the last of the previous six pack should still be in the fridge from when I bought it last year.... (And no, I'm not joking.) Quote
Vic Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 I like really tasty micro brews. I live for our trips to Germany and really awesome beers!! But as far as beer in the shop. No. Not if I'm actually working. Quote
