Popular Post Robby W
I have a handy little wooden spatula that my wife picked up somewhere. It is my favorite for making breakfast. I think it is of Scandinavian origin and made out of beech. It seems to always be in the dishwasher when I want to use it, so I decided to do something about it. I had a chunk of maple left over from a workbench alteration I did a few years ago. I traced out the shape of the spatula on the side of it and cut it out on the bandsaw. After setting the fence on my tablesaw to 3/32", I ripped the blank into a bunch of spatulas, sharpened the front edge on my disk sander, rounded the rest of the edges and I am set for awhile. Not exactly blind mitered dovetails, but it was fun anyway. As a side note, My Woodworker II, option 1 blade left an almost polished face on the rips. I was surprised at how smooth it was.

Chet
Nice Job Robby. You'll know you have a problem when you go to use one and they are all in the dishwasher.
Woodenskye
If you make four more, next time you make a dozen eggs, you will have the ability to flip each with its own spatula. Neat project non the less.
Rapid Roger
I think those are cool but personally, I would keep them the heck out of the dishwasher! Warping may not be a problem but cracking sure is!

rodger.
Nice project, and good use of left over material. Did you apply any finish?
Robby W
Hi, Pug - Nope. No finish. They seem to hold up ok. The original has something near a hundred wash cycles in the dishwasher and it is still functional. .
