treeslayer
running some boards thru the 735 this morning all going well, went to turn it back on and nothing, no hum just dead, checked for power, its got power to the machine, circuit does not appear to be tripped, not pushed out but feels loose. i am an electrical idiot but the neighbor checked the switch and i think its ok, could the circuit breaker on the machine go bad? any suggestions would help, thanks guys. RichardA
Dave, I've never had that problem, but I'd bet the on board circuit breaker needs replacing. I'm not suggesting that you do this, but if it were an emergency, you could pull the breaker, and bypass it. Do you have a DeWalt service center within 50 miles of you? Maybe Dubuque? Look them up on the computer, often they'll assist you over the phone, and tell you what you need.
Minnesota Steve
Verify you have power... plug something else into that outlet and see if it goes. I have a GFCI outlet that frequently is tripped and is annoying. I'd check the power switch. And apparently there is a microswitch to ensure the cover is in place before it'll turn on... http://www.justanswer.com/home-improvement/7wrlx-dewalt-735-13-planer-stopped-middle-cut-will.html Ensuring the cover is on right such that the microswitch is tripped is first step. Steps after that involve multimeters.

JosephThomas
Mine has a little black button for resetting the circuit breaker or fuse (near the power switch). You may have to push that if it tripped. Edit: Mis-read your question. Yes the breaker can go bad, I don't recall what it feels like when tripped/not-tripped. I can check when I get home later if that helps.

Popular Post Marmotjr
You've probably checked it, but make sure the outlet is working too. I'd hate to go through all that trouble to find that out. Same with trying it in another outlet. While it seems obvious, I used to do computer repair/builds for a living, and this was a common occurrence. About once a month, a customer would call the shop, and it'd go like this: "You just fixed my computer's *insert random part*, now it won't even turn on!" "Sir/ma'am, let's step through it, see if we can get it running, is it plugged in?" "What type of idiot do you..... oh.... thanks... *click*"
Popular Post treeslayer
ok, just an up-date to the planer problem, electrician just left and it was one of the brushes was stuck, cleaned it and it works just great, just future reference to those 735 owners out there who may have a similar problem in the future, thanks for all the help.
Chet
Glad to hear you are back up and running Dave. Nothing worse than being in the shop and having a tool failure.
wtnhighlander
Ha! I became the owner of a perfectly good scroll saw when the previous owner thought it was shot. Grabbed it before it hit the dumpster. Stuck brush on that, too.
RichardA
Hmmmmmm, gonna look at my Ridgid belt sander... damn thing just stopped. Thanks for the kick in the ass reminder Dave!
Brendon_t
Thanks for closing it out with the solution. Too many leave it open which isn't helpful to the next guy. How did he go about fixing the stuck brush?
treeslayer
the front brush, near the dust collection hood came out easy, the rear one behind the vent on the rear of the machine was stuck in there. they are held in with a small clip and removed it with a needle nose pliers, blew it out with the air compressor cleaned the armature and brushes with alcohol on a swab and soft cloth, reinstalled and walla! it worked
