Popular Post collinb
When I built my router table this was one of my goals. I'm going to add handles to the tray of bits to make it removable. I found the little plastic inserts At woodline.com.
DerekMPBS
Looks great, Collin. I need to do something like that for my router bits as well.
..Kev
Rockler makes inserts that accept both 1/4" and 1/2" shanks which I found helpful!
Tom King
Lee Valley sells both plastic, and brass inserts, also. I use them for storing the sets of custom router bits. I bought some of each, to see which ones I liked better, but both work equally good.

..Kev
Just pay attention that that spacing will work for most bits, anything unusually large and you'll be banging your bits
Coop
I hate it when that happens!
treeslayer
Nice work and lots of room for more bits!
collinb
I spaced them so that they could be separated if large, on both sides.
collinb
Probably the only thing left to do is to get a label maker and put marks on the board to identify some of the bits by for example angle and width as in dovetail, and a few others by their features as a number do not have this info stamped on the shaft.

Too bad they're out of the 1/4" right now. Did you glue them in? With some of these inexpensive ones that I've looked at, the bit is hard to get in and out. (I have found noticable differences between forstner bits.)
