Popular Post Coop
Now that I’m retired, I get up when the dog whines and go to bed when I get ready and beer time is somewhere in between. The correct time is only important for my doc visits and that is usually for his sake and not mine! 3
JohnG
It doesn’t matter which way the time is changing, toddlers always wake up 2hrs earlier than normal on the morning of time change.

curlyoak
For the most part I would rather it be left alone. But there is one reason it needs to stay. Right now many kids must walk or ride a bike in the dark to get to school. It is always safer to walk in daylight. Especially for kids. If I am right then it is a small sacrifice for me that I don't mind doing.

I don't know about your latitude, but where I live, they are leaving in the dark and getting home in the dark, anyway. 90% of the students in this county ride a bus 45 minutes or more, both ways. Tpt life
If this was about school safety, we’d never use DST. There would be many more 6:00-6:00 days with light in standard time all year. Most are not boarding a bus before 6:00, or departing a bus after 6:00. This decision is clearly about other factors. curlyoak
My latitude is south of most and that does make a difference.
Coop
On CBS Sunday Morning this morning, they said that Congress, in 1966 passed this to save energy. A couple of years ago, a study was made and just the opposite was true. I had always heard as well that it was to benefit the school kids and unless I missed it, nothing was said in this regard. wtnhighlander
Supposedly, the idea was born from a satiracal paper by Ben Franklin. While acting as an envoy to France, he suggested that Parisians could save the equivalent of $200 million in today's dollars, by getting up at dawn, going to bed at dark, and burning fewer candles.
