Popular Post BillyJack
It's dry in KC, but with kiln dried lumber it's obvious. While setting up dados for a panty rollouts I used my dado stack. Set the pieces for 1/2, ran a test piece about 1" and felt I needed one of the shims provided. Put the shim in , put the outside cutter on and noticed resistance. I had put the outside dado blade on backwards. I only ran about 1/2 and noticed the sound. Shut saw off and checked the cut and noticed one blade burned , which meant backwards. At this point I need only turn it around, but noticed a smoke small. I had not turned on the DC yet and had small fragments smoking. Couldnt tell from where. It stopped but wanted to give about an hour to stop for sure. After about an hour I cleaned the saw out. I'll let it sit till tomorrow as its getting later in the day and start fresh. If you don't smell it first , it looks like stirred up dust that hasn't settled. Then you'll smell it. Stay on top of it woodworkers and be careful.....
Tpt life
Good catch. Your nose can alert you to a lot of problems with machines.
Ronn W
That is scary. Tough to know where you might have hot embers. You handled it well.
Coop
Wonder if that would have shut down a SawStop?

BillyJack
I cleaned out the dust collector a day before. Getting ready to clear out all the lines for winter. Glad I saw the light smoke before I turned the DC on.
JohnG
Luckily there’s a pretty wide gap between wood smoking and wood igniting. Extra caution is always good.
