Popular Post Von
Hello all, I've been a hobbyist for about 25 years, building small furniture and knick-knacks, but fell off a little over the past decade as work picked up. Now retired, I find myself with time to get back into woodworking. I am discovering the vast amounts of information (and non-information) now available via YouTube, etc. Back when I started it was basically Norm and Roy, so quite a change. Glad I found the Woodtalk guys to ground me. I am also figuring out that my needs and inclinations have changed. I no longer do much car maintenance (cars have gotten too expensive and complicated) or handyman work (we just finished having everything but the garage/shop remodeled so there isn't much for me to do). So I'm working through a honey-do list of minor furniture builds and repairs, and getting distracted a lot fixing up the shop where I'm noticing changes in my workflow, and building jigs/fixtures, which I'm currently finding really satisfying. Hoping to identify and get into some sort of groove. Look forward to meeting folks. Von
legenddc
Welcome! I enjoy working on cars as well but deadlines and unexpected costs certainly made it less fun. Would much rather build something out of wood on my own time.
Chestnut
Welcome. This is a good place with a lot of helpful advice. My best advice is start to journal a build that you have things that your unsure of how to complete. There will be plenty of advice.
Popular Post Chet
Welcome to the forums Von. Sometimes you just have to dive in to a furniture project and see what happens. Something else that might be helpful is joining the woodwhisperer guild. Each project comes with hours of video instruction. Even if you don't end up building the project itself the techniques will come in handy down the road.

Maybe someday I'll replace my 2x4 and plywood bench with Marc's hybrid :-)

Popular Post RichardA
Welcome from an older twice retired PITA around here, but you will find the most useful help in your woodworking, right here. These are a bunch of tree huggers you'll find selecting the trees they want milled so they can get a hug when the project becomes a beauty.
